Big House Museum
In 1969 a revolution was launched from the streets of Macon, consisting of guitars, bass, keyboards, drums, and a uniquely spirited brotherhood. The revolutionaries of record were the Allman Brothers Band, who, as the founders of what became known as Southern rock, changed the course of popular American music and turned Macon into the recording hot bed of the 1970s. The Big House is the place the band called home from 1970 -1973 and found so much inspiration to write so many fan favorite songs as well as their biggest hit, Ramblin' Man. Take a trip down historic Highway 41 and visit us today. We look forward to seeing you!

This friendship took Mama Louise on quite a ride that included a seat on the tour bus in 1972 and lifelong friendships with Gregg and the rest of the band, as well as most all of the figures (large and small) of Macon’s southern rock explosion.

H&H was closed for a little while after Mama Hill passed on, but on August 13, 2014, the Moonhanger Group reopened the historic restaurant in cooperation with Mama Louise. H&H serves delectable soul food for breakfast and lunch and was named one of the top five meat and three joints by the Wall Street Journal in 2016 and “Georgia’s Most Iconic Restaurant” by Thrillist.com in 2015.
